Columbia's Summer Lake loafers come close to giving what you pay for. They are a lightweight shoe, yet fairly well built. They look good with jeans and work slacks. One advantage to the brown-over-black color choice is that the stitching is dyed to match the leather, instead of the stark, contrasting white stitching visible on the other two color choices. In other words, they are a bit more dressed up. The rubber soles provide good grip and are squeaky on hard, slick surfaces like tile floors. Fit feels true to standard, though a bit wide and very, very roomy in the heels? almost as if the shoes were cobbled exclusively for thick-ankled people. Because of the ankle room, mine were returned.
