Average shoe - The shoe quality is good, but it is very slippery and I mean very slippery on wet conditions. Other people have raised the same issue and there have been few occasions that I almost fell head first. Second problem I have had with them is that I have had two blue toenails. At Last! I love boots but buying boots is an ordeal. I have wide, high arched feet and wide calves. I took the boots out of the box and loved the look immediately. I was afraid to get my hopes up because usually boots don't fit in some way and I have to return them. What a joy to have them slip on, zip up and I was away. No break in time at all. These were pricey boots but I have no choice if I want an attractive boot that fits me. The only problem is lack of arch support. Asics Gel-1150 were the first pair of running shoes I've bought by the brand. My previous pair of running shoes (Puma) I had bought without much research. As with all Aquatalias, I ordered a full size larger than my normal shoe size. The Miles is a great 'weather' shoe because it's weather-resistant and very comfortable. At this time of year I never worry if I'm caught in the rain or flurries because I wouldn't consider wearing anything but Aquatalias or La Canadiennes. As others have said, these shoes are comfortable from the first time you slip them on and remain comfortable over hours of walking time - no break in period required. I did experience a little chafing from one of the straps on the outside of my foot right at first, but when I adjusted the width of the shoe with the stretchy lacing that goes down the top of the foot, that fixed it. I bought the normal size I buy for all my shoes and it fits perfectly. I have high arches and would have loved a little more arch support but that is my only complaint, and it's a minor one. I have used Tevas in the past for hiking sandals and had terrible problems with them for blisters and chafing at the heels and toes - based on my first few weeks of using the Keens I have every expectation that my feet will fare much better in these over the long haul.

As I have grown older my feet have lost a lot of their fat and protective flesh. I always had narrow feet. Now I have really great difficulty in finding shoes that are comfortable and so I wear sneakers almost all the time. I wear New Balance for any exercising and walking. They are light, have great support and are long enough in the toe and high enough in the toe box not to irritate my feet. My feet never hurt or get tired in New Balance. I am grateful to them.

As always, Logohoo service is excellent! However, I was quite disappointed in the Softwalk Madrid after reading all the wonderful reviews. My old toes need wiggle room and this shoe has none. It has a very narrow toe and seems to run a little short. The rest of the shoe felt quite good and would definitely be a keeper if I had more toe room. I will be returning these and trying something else with more toe room. I am reluctant to give it any stars since I am not keeping it.

As always, La Canadienne boots get 5 stars for comfort and quality! These are great for walking around. The only thing I noticed is that the boot is a little narrow on the shank part, as you zip it up. Otherwise, the width for your foot is average or possibly even a little wider than other La Canadienne styles.

As a railroad conductor I am required to wear a black boot with a defined heel. This can be very difficult to find in a womens shoe. These boots are PERFECT- light weight, good support.
